Fire Department

The Department is staffed by two full-time and 19 volunteer firefighters and provides emergency assistance throughout the City of Colwich and surrounding Union Township.

The Colwich Fire Department is comprised of 21 members. We cover a 35 mile diverse response area consisting of the City of Colwich and Union Township. Our current ISO rating is 4 in the city limits. In addition to our rural response area, our protection responsibilities include a new 3 story low rise office and manufacturing facility employing 250 workers. We also provide BLS first responder care for Sedgwick County EMS (ALS) in our response area. Apply to be a volunteer firefighter.

Burn permits are issued through the Administrative Services Office, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Burn permits are issued for a 30-day period for residents living in Union Township. Open burning is not permitted within the corporate limits of the City of Colwich.
